Contact lenses Biofinity are new silicon hydrogel contact lenses with a unique combination of a high content of water and extreme oxygen permeability. Thanks to these characteristics are the Biofinity lenses among the trademarks such as PureVision, Acuvue Oasys, Air Optix Night and Day; however, the Biofinity surpasses them in many ways.
Monthly contact lenses Biofinity are designed for daily wearing and sleeping. They are even suitable for continuous wearing for a period of 30 days (without removal from eyes). However, this method of use must be recommended by an eye specialist who has examined your eyes. Contact lenses Biofinity bring a perfect balance between content of water and oxygen permeability that achieves value of 160 Dk/t (x10–9). In common silicon hydrogel materials, the oxygen permeability is subject to high content of silicone particles that are hydrophobic. And thus, oxygen permeability decreases with the increasing content of water.
Revolutionary technology AQUAFORMuses a new silicon monomer that enables more effective oxygen permeability. Hydrophilous and silicon components were successfully combined and thus naturally form hydrophilous material. Water molecules are evenly retained by a hydrogen bond in the entire volume of the contact lens. Newly formed silicon hydrogel material thus doesn’t require further surface adjustments or use of lubricants.
Wettabilityis one of the decisive characteristics for
determination of wearing comfort. Wettable surface enables even distribution of
an eye film onto the eye surface, and the lens is thus naturally well
lubricated.
Material of these contact lenses is non-ionic, i.e. it doesn’t contain
electrically charged particles. Therefore, it is very resistant to the
formation of protein and lipid deposits that are contained in eye
secretions and also in the external environment.
Other positive characteristic of the contact lenses:
- aspherical front surface that improves optical characteristics of the lens, mainly sharpness of vision under worsened light conditions and enables correction of lower astigmatism and presbyopia
- curved edges increase comfort of wearing and limit formation of tinting deficiencies at the place of contact with the eye
- multi-curve back surface that distributes pressure on the eye surface and thus increases comfort of wearing
